As with the rest of our nation and our community, COVID-19 has changed our year. Wreaths Across America-Houston is no different in that affect.
The Houston board has been planning ways to keep our community safe as we work within guidelines from the CDC, the VA, Harris County, and the City of Houston. Sadly there is not an effective way to accomplish this and still maintain the public safety and honor of the event.
With that said, our traditional Wreath day will not be possible.
We will not have a ceremony and we will not be laying wreaths as we traditionally do.
In every section of the cemetery we will have a ceremonial wreath displayed as will the columbariums, but there will not be a wreath laying event.
However, we will be honoring our veterans in another way by having a rolling Celebration of America as we drive our patriotic decorated vehicles through the cemetery roads at 11:00am on Saturday the 19th.
We will line up all the vehicles on Aldine Western Rd. next to the cemetery.
All are invited to drive through.
All donations made to date will roll over to the 2021 event, there is nothing that needs to be done.
Rolling Celebration of America –
Help us honor our veterans and the heroes that have gone before with a socially distanced rolling Celebration of America! Decorate your vehicle with all of the red, white, and blue you can find. Get that American Flag and your military branch flag onto your car, your truck, or motorcycle.
The long straight road to the left of the cemetery is called Aldine Western and this is where we will line up vehicles that want to celebrate American and our Veterans. You will see us out there lining the cars up, just jump in at the end of the line.
We will roll into the cemetery starting at 11:00am and finish by 1:00pm.
Here are some examples of what others have done to decorate.
Rules: Not Many –
On cemetery property you must wear a mask and remain socially distanced.
Please stay in your car so we can socially distance appropriately
No political or religious flags, this is not the place for a statement, just honor and respect.
